As one main origins of the new idea, new theory, new methodology, new technology and new material for the transportation engineering field in China, the College of Transportation Engineering takes social services as self-responsibility and actively promotes the transformation of achievements. Based on the research outcomes, the College had edited or co-edited dozens of national, industry, or local standards; completed the comprehensive transportation planning and design works for the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and other several province, cities and areas; provided technology supports from the aspects of planning, design, construction, operation, and management for hundreds expressways, more than seventy airports, dozens of high speed railways and passenger dedicated lines, and more than ten city metros. In addition, teachers from the College have also chaired or participated in the traffic plan settings and informatization managing for important activities like Shanghai Expo, Beijing Olympic Games, Guangzhou Asian Games. Hundreds of students have volunteered in events like Shanghai Expo. With the strong sense of social responsibility and the outstanding technology innovation power, the College has done significant contributions for the country’s social economic development.
